Borders...

There's nothing like a nice simple border to make your own lovely images stand out....

They are easy to produce in Photoshop, or Elements, as you will see from the tutorial below...

Slugger

These two images are identical, only the frame has been added to the one on the right...

Which one of the two images will grab your attention?...

We will start off with the simplest of borders shown in the image above... This is created simply by increasing the canvas size as follows...

1... Press the 'D' key to reset the swatches, then press the 'X' key if the background colour is not white...
2... In Photoshop CS click on Image from the menu bar and select Canvas Size... In Elements 2 you need to click on Image from the menu bar, select Resize, and click on Canvas Size...
3... Increase the canvas size by 2 pixels in both height and width, then click on OK...
4... Press the 'X' key to change the swatches over and repeat steps 2 & 3...
5...  Press the 'X' key to change the swatches back and repeat steps 2 & 3, but this time increase the pixels to give a wide border... The amount you will need to add depends on the size of the image you are working with...

Please Note: In different versions of Photoshop or Elements, how you get to the canvas size may differ but the results will be the same...
